About the Race for Grace 5k

The course starts at Grace Church and runs through downtown Zanesville on a mostly flat route, with runners passing each other on some narrower sections where the path doubles back. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, and the cause behind it is local: proceeds go directly to a food pantry and a children's nutrition program serving the surrounding area.

After finishing, you can step inside Grace Church to warm up. Coffee and hot chocolate are available there. Packet pickup runs in the days before the race at Grace Church, with race-morning pickup available for those who cannot make it earlier.

Common Questions About the Race for Grace 5k

Will I finish last at the Race for Grace 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Race for Grace 5k a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 315 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Race for Grace 5k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:08 while the median finisher took 33:07. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
