About the Winter Winds Road Races

The races start and finish behind the Sandra Moon Community Complex, using the parking lot as the course base. Both distances are USATF certified and state age record eligible, so the courses are measured precisely. The surrounding area keeps things straightforward, road surfaces throughout, without significant hills to worry about.

Packet pickup runs the day before at a local Fleet Feet store, with race-day pickup also available at the complex. Registration closes a short window before each wave goes off, so arriving early matters. Awards go out to overall and masters leaders, as well as age group placers, shortly after the last runners finish.

Common Questions About the Winter Winds Road Races

Will I finish last at the Winter Winds Road Races?

Almost certainly not. Half the 2 Miles field finished slower than 17:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 31:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Winter Winds Road Races a good first 2 Miles?

A field of 228 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Winter Winds Road Races?

The 2 Miles winner ran 10:25 while the median finisher took 17:44. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
