About the Wekiva Parkway 5K

The course runs on a brand-new stretch of toll road that had never been open to the public before race day, which gives it an unusual feel. The signature moment is crossing a towering bridge through a multi-level interchange, well above the surrounding landscape. Proceeds from the race go toward wildlife conservation, reflecting the parkway's environmental protections along the Wekiva River corridor.

Parking is on the new roadway itself, reached via temporary ramps off the existing highway. Packet pickup is available on race morning, so there is no pressure to make a pre-race trip. After the run, the grand-opening celebration continues with community exhibits, music, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on site.

Common Questions About the Wekiva Parkway 5K

Will I finish last at the Wekiva Parkway 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:08, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Wekiva Parkway 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 608 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Wekiva Parkway 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:53 while the median finisher took 38:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
