About the 8th Annual Weighted Angels 5k Run & Walk
This race is organized around grief and remembrance. It benefits a nonprofit that provides weighted stuffed animals to families navigating pregnancy and infant loss. The course runs on road through a residential neighborhood near the Virginia Capital Trail, with shaded stretches and a loop that brings you back to where you started. It is flat and moves quickly underfoot.
Packet pickup and race-morning registration both happen at Billsburg Brewery on Jamestown Road. The morning opens with a memorial service before the running begins, during which names of lost babies are read aloud. There is also a kids' fun run where children dress in zoo animal costumes. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome on course.
