About the Wayside Youth & Family Support Network 5K4Kids
The race starts and finishes at an elementary school, and the surrounding grounds fill up with family activity well before the gun goes off. The course is a standard road distance through the neighborhood. Proceeds go directly to emergency supplies, meals, and seasonal basics for local kids, so the crowd tends to be people who know the cause personally.
Face painting, a bouncy house, balloon artists, and lawn games run alongside the race itself, so families with young children have plenty to do while someone else is still out on the course. Raffle tickets go on sale the morning of the race. Pets are not permitted on the grounds, service dogs excepted.
