About the Watermelon 5K Fort Lauderdale
The course runs through TY Park, a green, tree-lined space in Hollywood. The route is chip-timed, and age group awards go out after the finish alongside the watermelon spread that the race is built around. It reads more like a summer morning in a park than a serious race, though the timing is legitimate and the results are real.
Post-race, there is watermelon, music, and dancing near the finish area. The park setting keeps things shaded and easy to navigate, and the atmosphere after the clock stops is unhurried.
