About the Turkey Trot of Morgan County
The race runs through downtown Decatur on Thanksgiving morning, starting in front of First Baptist Church. The surrounding streets are the course, so you get a look at the historic downtown while your legs warm up. It draws a wide range of people out on the holiday, from those chasing a fast finish to families stretching their legs before the meal.
Packet pickup the evening before is at a local brewery, with a second window on race morning at the church before the start. Parking is available in the blocks around the start area, and restrooms at both the church and a nearby historic building are open to runners before the gun goes off.
