About the Transmountain Half Marathon
The course runs point-to-point across the mountains, starting on the west side of El Paso and finishing on the east side. The first half is a sustained climb up Transmountain Road; the second half is a fast, leg-burning descent to the finish. There is no flat stretch to speak of, and the mountain views are hard to avoid.
Packet pickup is the day before at the FirstLight Federal Credit Union headquarters on Kenworthy Street, and there is no race-morning pickup option, so plan accordingly. After you finish, shuttles run back to the start area, which matters on a point-to-point course where your car is several miles away.
