About the 2026 Mogadishu Mile 10K/5K/Fun Run
The race is named for a moment in the Battle of Mogadishu, when Rangers ran through gunfire to reach a relief column, and that history sits at the center of the morning. Both the longer and shorter road races follow an out-and-back paved trail through Ascarate Park. Some participants run in ballistic tactical vests, a military tradition, and that is common enough here that the course feels shaped by it.
The event starts at Ascarate Park, where parking instructions are posted at the entrance. Packet pickup runs the evening before at a location on Douglas Ave, with same-day pickup available at the park before the races begin. The children's fun run is timed to start after parents finish the earlier waves, so families can run both.
