About the Tour de Trails
Tour de Trails is a series of winter trail races held at different forest preserves and state parks around the Rockford area across several months. Each race is longer than the last, so the series builds as the season progresses. The terrain is genuine winter trail running, which means ice, snow, and cold are part of the deal, not exceptions to it.
Packet pickup and race-day registration both happen on-site at each location in the hour before the start. For the longer distances, runners who expect a slower pace can opt into an early start, which lets them finish before the volunteers need to pack up. Awards are certificates, personalized and mailed out after each event.
