About the Tombstone Trot
The course runs through Prairie Home Cemetery, a historic, tree-lined property in Waukesha. The grounds are quiet and shaded, with paths that wind past old monuments and open lawn sections. Runners and walkers share the same general route, and the fall foliage, if the timing is right, makes the surroundings worth slowing down for. The start and finish area is lined with American flags.
The race benefits Friends of Prairie Home Cemetery, a nonprofit working to preserve the grounds and add a monument and flagpole in the Veterans section. A raffle and history books are available at the event, so there is more to explore after you finish.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
