About the TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day 8-Miler/5k
The course runs through Saguaro National Park East, on paved road through a desert landscape dense with saguaro, prickly pear, and ocotillo. The longer route makes a clockwise loop with rolling hills and open views of the Rincon and Catalina Mountains. The shorter out-and-back covers the tail end of that same stretch. Rattlesnakes are a real, if occasional, presence on the course.
Packet pickup runs the day before at a local running store on Campbell Avenue. Parking on race day is along the neighborhood streets outside the park entrance; the park itself has no parking. The organizers strongly encourage carpooling, and headphones are discouraged out of respect for wildlife and other runners.
