About the Royal (multi) Mile Hill Run
This race goes up a ski mountain, so expect real climbing. The course weaves between packed dirt, groomed ski runs, and access roads on the way up, and that elevation gain is the whole point. It is not a gentle warm-up. The mountain setting means exposed stretches where the footing shifts as the surface changes beneath you.
The race opens the final morning of the NH Highland Games, held at Loon Mountain. Parking at the mountain is not available during the festival, so plan to follow posted signs to a nearby lot and catch a shuttle to the grounds. After the race, the festival itself carries on around you, with food, drink, and the full Highland Games atmosphere right there.
