About the Pat Campbell Fighting Cancer 5K
The course runs along the Ohio River, and it earns its reputation as a fast one. The terrain is flat throughout, the route is USATF-certified, and the surroundings give you open water views to focus on while you run. It falls on St. Patrick's Day weekend, so expect green outfits, a color guard, and a live National Anthem at the start.
The morning has a lot going on beyond the race itself: music, prayer, an Irish Blessings raffle, and food. The cause is direct, with proceeds supporting families currently in cancer treatment through a local charitable fund. It also counts toward a multi-race challenge among the Toronto 5Ks if that kind of series appeals to you.
