About the Palmer Lake .5K (Yes "Point" 5)
The Palmer Lake .5K is exactly what it sounds like: a short loop around the lake, done in the time it takes to catch your breath. The route runs during peak fall color, so the surroundings do most of the work. Costumes are common, prizes go to the best-dressed and the best attitude, and the whole thing moves at whatever pace you feel like.
There is a donut at the halfway point and beer or root beer waiting at the finish. Dogs are welcome on leash. Proceeds go to a local nonprofit that works on the parks, trails, and the lake itself, so the silliness has a purpose behind it.
