About the Iron Pickle 5k

The Iron Pickle 5K starts and finishes at the Stark County Fairgrounds, so the route keeps you on familiar ground with a clear return to a central hub. The race has a costume element, and the optional Iron Pickle Challenge lets you carry either a real jar of pickles or an oversized inflatable one across the finish line for a bonus award.

The real draw is what comes after. The race feeds directly into the Canton Pickle Fest, and finishers get early access to the festival grounds, where pickle-themed food vendors, food trucks, cottage bakers, pickle soft drinks, and a bar serving pickle cocktails and beer are all waiting. There is also a scavenger hunt and live entertainment already underway.

Common Questions About the The Iron Pickle 5k

Will I finish last at the Iron Pickle 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:28, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:12:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Iron Pickle 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 492 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Iron Pickle 5k?

The 5K winner ran 16:09 while the median finisher took 36:28. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
