About the Franksgiving Day 5K

The Franksgiving Day 5K leans hard into its hot dog theme. Runners are sorted into condiment teams, and the team with the lowest collective average time takes home the Wiener Sticker. There are also wiener dog races on the side. The awards go deep into age groups, and the post-race spread includes hot dogs, chips, and drinks.

A kids' sprint runs alongside the main event for younger participants, and a short uphill challenge has been added to the course. Both are part of the same morning, so it works well if you are bringing the whole family along.

Common Questions About the Franksgiving Day 5K

Will I finish last at the Franksgiving Day 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:29, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:42, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Franksgiving Day 5K a good first 5K?

With 904 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Franksgiving Day 5K?

The 5K winner ran 16:58 while the median finisher took 36:29. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
