About the Holiday Run & Walk For Toys

The course runs through the Lordship section of Stratford, flat and out-and-back along what the organizers describe as scenic surroundings. There is also a short kids' run before the main event starts. The whole morning is built around a toy drive, with new, unwrapped toys collected at pickup and at the start.

Bib pickup happens the day before at the Little Pub, which also hosts the race itself. After you finish, the pub puts out hot apple cider, hot chocolate, chicken broth, and snacks. Awards lean toward the eccentric side, with holiday oddities mixed in alongside the standard age-group prizes.

Common Questions About the The Holiday Run & Walk For Toys

Will I finish last at the Holiday Run & Walk For Toys?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 50:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Holiday Run & Walk For Toys a good first 5K?

It is a small race (67 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Holiday Run & Walk For Toys?

The 5K winner ran 22:27 while the median finisher took 32:21. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
