About the Miles For Margaritas

Both course options run through the seaside neighborhood of Lordship, along quiet roads near the water. The route is nearly all flat. Roads stay open to traffic, so runners keep to the left and stay alert. There is a chip-timed distance and a shorter untimed walk option, and a free kids fun run goes off just before the main start.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the Little Pub on Washington Parkway, with a backup window on race morning in the lot across the street. Parking fills early in this residential area near the seawall, so arriving early and carpooling helps. After the race, there are snacks and fruit at the finish, plus margaritas for those of age.

Common Questions About the Miles For Margaritas

Will I finish last at the Miles For Margaritas?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:38, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Miles For Margaritas a good first 5K?

A field of 287 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Miles For Margaritas?

The 5K winner ran 18:22 while the median finisher took 35:14. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
