About the Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K

This one runs on Thanksgiving morning, which gives it a particular feeling. The proceeds go toward helping homeless families reach self-sufficiency, so the cause is right there in the air alongside the cold. Strollers are welcome, and walkers too, though they line up toward the back. No dogs on this one.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the organization's admin office on West Mill Street. If you miss that, there is a second window on race morning at the Liberty Community Center, where the race also starts.

Common Questions About the The Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K

Will I finish last at the Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 540 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hillcrest Hope Giving Thanks 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:29 while the median finisher took 33:21. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
