About the Great Books Tour 5K
The course follows river paths through open, green surroundings near a park on the east side of town. The race leans into its literary theme hard: expect humorous quote signs posted along the route, plenty of costumes, and at least a few togas. It draws a wide range of people, from runners treating it seriously to book lovers who showed up mostly for the puns.
The post-race atmosphere carries the themed energy through to the end, with an awards ceremony on site. The college connection gives the whole morning a campus-event feel, informal but organized, with the kind of crowd that actually reads the signs instead of running past them.
