About the Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

The course runs through horse country outside Lexington, past working farms with the kind of scenery that makes an early morning easier to deal with. It starts and finishes at Mereworth Farm, home to a racehorse adoption organization, so the setting has some history to it. No dogs are allowed on the property, which the organizers are straightforward about.

Packet pickup happens at a local running store in the days before the race, with a race-morning option available for those coming from out of town. Hot coffee and hot cocoa are at the finish, along with food and a post-race gathering that tends to go a while.

Common Questions About the The Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Will I finish last at the Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:06:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:04:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 290 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:11:07 while the median finisher took 2:06:36. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
