About the Eagle Chase 5K

The Eagle Chase is a school fundraiser that winds through the neighborhood around Ashland Elementary, starting and finishing at the school itself. The course is on streets, so expect pavement the whole way. The race benefits field trips for students at the school, which gives the morning a genuine sense of purpose beyond just the finish line.

Packet pickup happens the day before at the school, with both a morning and an afternoon window. There is also a window on race morning before the start. Parking is tight around a neighborhood elementary school, so walking over is the easier move if you are close. Side streets nearby offer street parking for those who drive.

Common Questions About the The Eagle Chase 5K

Will I finish last at the Eagle Chase 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 56:01, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Eagle Chase 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (153 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Eagle Chase 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:48 while the median finisher took 34:37. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
