About the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run

The course winds through the streets of a residential subdivision on road, staying flat throughout. The neighborhoods loop around enough that spectators can catch runners at several points along the way, not just at the start and finish in Graywood Park. Aid stations and portable restrooms are spread along the route.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running shoe store on Ryan Street. The park opens early on race morning for last-minute pickup and registration. After you finish, a local car dealership sponsors a post-race spread with food, music, and games open to runners and their families.

Common Questions About the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:09:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:43:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (147 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:14:43 while the median finisher took 2:09:07. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
