The course runs along the northbound lanes of a major interstate highway, taking runners across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge over lower Tampa Bay. At its peak, the bridge climbs well above the water, and the views out over the bay in both directions are genuinely hard to find anywhere else in a road race setting. The route is point-to-point, not a loop.
