About the Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile

The course runs a scenic loop along the Santa Cruz River Path through the Sweetwater Riparian area, with gently rolling hills that give it a different feel from a typical out-and-back. Danny Lopez Park anchors the start and finish, and the riparian surroundings make this stretch of Tucson feel quieter than a road race usually does.

Packet pickup runs the morning before the race at The Running Shop on Campbell Avenue, with race-morning pickup available as a backup if you miss it. A kids' mile follows after the main races wrap up, so families tend to stick around past the finish.

Common Questions About the Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile

Will I finish last at the Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 57:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:43:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile a good first 10K?

A field of 211 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile?

The 10K winner ran 33:06 while the median finisher took 57:45. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
