About the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth

The course runs through parks and trails out of Farrington Field, with shaded paths breaking up what is otherwise a warm-weather effort. A DJ calls out runners by name along the way, and age group awards go deep, so there is real competition across the field if you want it.

After you finish, a Kona Ice truck is set up at the post-race area, which is about the right thing to find at the end of a summer morning. Music stays on through the awards ceremony, and the organizers run a proper podium call for overall and age group winners.

Common Questions About the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth

Will I finish last at the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:18:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:22:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (136 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Fort Worth?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:24:50 while the median finisher took 2:18:11. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
