About the Stray Cat Scurry
The route runs through park trails, so the ground underfoot is natural surface rather than pavement. The event benefits a cat rescue and supports stray cats in South Philly, and walkers can dedicate their entry to a specific cat in the rescue's care. The cat with the most sponsors gets announced at the end, which gives the morning a bit of a reveal to look forward to.
After finishing, there is water ice and pretzels on site, and vendors to browse. An eighties music soundtrack runs through the whole thing. Pickup for pre-ordered packages happens at the registration desk the morning of the event.
