About the Steps for Students 5K

This race starts and finishes in downtown Houston, centered on a large Catholic cathedral. The morning opens with a Sunrise Mass before the course goes out, and a school spirit village fills the finish area with booths from Catholic schools across the archdiocese. The race draws a wide range of participants, from competitive runners to families walking the route together.

Packet pickup happens at two locations on separate days in the week before the race, with a last-chance option available the day before. On race day, parking is available in street meters and nearby garages and surface lots downtown; meters are enforced, so bring a card or the city parking app. Roads around the cathedral close at the start of the race, so plan to arrive early.
