About This Club

Freaks Come Out At Night is a Houston 501(c)(3) social run club that meets Friday nights at 7:15 PM, rotating through different Houston neighborhoods and parks each week with a stop at a local business after. They also run a seasonal Sunday morning long-run series for people who want more mileage. All paces are welcome, and there is no membership or fee to show up.

Who It Suits

This club works well for runners who want a Friday night out that doubles as a run, people curious about different Houston neighborhoods, and anyone building toward longer distances who wants company on Sunday mornings. If you need a fixed route you can preview every week, or if you prefer quiet, heads-down training runs, the rotating social format is probably not your thing.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Friday runs happen on city streets and urban paths at night, with the location changing week to week, often landing somewhere in the Heights or other Houston neighborhoods. Distance varies by week, so you will want to check their Instagram, Strava, or Heylo before you go to know what you are signing up for.

The Sunday long runs range from about 4 to 20 miles depending on the week, and they run on the same urban terrain. Because they explicitly welcome all paces, fast runners and slower ones are both part of the picture on any given night.

Your First Run

Check their Instagram, Strava, or Heylo that week - the location is rotating, so that is the only way to know where to show up. Arrive at the posted spot by 7:15 PM on a Friday.

You do not need to register, pay, or know anyone to walk in for the first time. They say all paces and experience levels are welcome, and walkers are fine too, so the worry about being the slowest person there is a real one they have already thought about.
