About the Steps for a Cure 5K: Battle Thrive Live Run!
This race is built around one runner's story. The race director herself was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, had major surgery, and went on to complete half marathons and marathons before a recurrence brought her back to the starting line as an organizer rather than a patient. The course is in Toledo, and the event raises funds for pancreatic cancer research through Project Purple.
Packet pickup opens the morning of the race, with the start following a couple of hours later. The morning is shaped around the mission: honoring survivors, remembering people lost to the disease, and raising awareness for research that still has a long way to go.
