About the Step Outdoors TRYathlon & 5K Trail Run/Walk
This race happens at Hills Creek State Park, where the trail run loops the perimeter of the lake on a mix of park roads and trails. The terrain is genuinely mixed, so expect dirt underfoot alongside stretches of harder surface. The standalone trail run and the triathlon share the same course and start point, so the morning has an unusual range of participants moving through the same lakeside scenery.
The park is a few miles outside of Wellsboro. Race-morning registration opens early, so you can show up without having signed up in advance. Bike and paddlecraft rentals are available through the organizer if you want to do the full triathlon but do not own a kayak or canoe.
