About the Star of Texas 50 Miler • 50K • Marathon • Half Marathon • 10K • 5K

The course runs on paved road inside Pace Bend Park, looping with moderate climbs and gentle descents each time around. Because the loop is short, you learn every rise and dip quickly, and supporters can find a spot near the start and see you come through repeatedly without moving. The marathon course is USATF-certified and designed with Boston qualification in mind.

Pacers are welcome, though they need to register in advance and pay a small fee for park entry and an official bib. Personal aid station setups are allowed at the start and finish area, so you can stash your own nutrition and grab it on every pass through.

Will I finish last at the Star of Texas 50 Miler • 50K • Marathon • Half Marathon • 10K • 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 1:37:53, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:36:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Star of Texas 50 Miler • 50K • Marathon • Half Marathon • 10K • 5K a good first race?

It is a small race (41 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. How competitive is the Star of Texas 50 Miler • 50K • Marathon • Half Marathon • 10K • 5K?
