About the Stairs for Strides 5K
The course runs through East Wheeling and features a significant stair climb, several hundred steps that make this feel genuinely different from a standard road race. A shorter, stair-free option is available for those who want to walk with family. The race benefits NAMI Greater Wheeling and carries a mental health awareness theme throughout.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a NAMI office downtown, with race-morning pickup available at Heritage Port. After the race, a large food truck festival opens at the same waterfront location and runs well into the evening, with vendors and mental health resources on site.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Stairs for Strides 5K has been held every year since at least 2025. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
