About the St. Patrick's Day Run Fest

The races start and finish in downtown Hagerstown, and the whole morning is built around St. Patrick's Day, so expect green everywhere and plenty of costumes. Several distance options mean people show up at different levels of seriousness, and the after party picks up right as the last runners finish.

Packet pickup runs early in the week at a local community college, with a second option on race morning at Hub City Brewery, which also serves as the gathering spot afterward. The brewery opens early enough to get settled before the first wave goes off.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the St. Patrick's Day Run Fest

Will I finish last at the St. Patrick's Day Run Fest?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the St. Patrick's Day Run Fest a good first 5K?

A field of 297 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the St. Patrick's Day Run Fest?

The 5K winner ran 16:56 while the median finisher took 34:11. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
