About the SRU Turkey Trot 2026!
The course runs on a track at Fort Sam Houston, on the grounds of the Soldier Recovery Unit. The race is oriented toward soldiers in recovery, their families, and the staff who work alongside them, so the field reflects that. It is a morning event on a military installation, with fitness and unit cohesion as the point rather than competition.
Fort Sam Houston requires base access to enter. Anyone without a military ID needs to arrange a visitor pass in advance through the Walters Visitor Control Center on Hood Street before arriving at the start.
