The Squatchapple is a trail race held at South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, with several distance options ranging from a manageable run to a full ultra. The terrain is what you would expect from a wooded reservation, rooted and rolling rather than groomed. Hikers are as welcome as runners, and the event benefits the South Mountain Conservancy, which maintains the land you are running on.
