About the Sputnikfest 5K Walk/Run
The route starts and ends at the spot where a piece of Russian satellite actually fell from the sky and landed in the street, near the Rahr-West Art Museum. From there it heads out along the waterfront, passing through downtown past public art murals painted on building walls. It is untimed, so people walk, jog, or run at whatever pace they want.
The race is part of a larger Sputnikfest celebration, so the start area has some energy around it. Dressing up in space-themed costume fits right in with the crowd, and there is a drink ticket waiting at the finish.
