About the Ugly Sweater 5K or 10K Race/Walk
The course runs along a paved lakeside trail beside Lake Michigan, so you get open water views for most of the route. The path is flat, and the sweater theme means the people around you are dressed in ways that make the miles go faster. Both a shorter and a longer distance option are on offer, and walkers are genuinely part of the event.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at The Inn on Maritime Bay, which also serves as the race start. After the race, lunch and drinks are set up on site, and a raffle and silent auction run through midday. There is also a sweater contest for adults and kids, plus face painting and balloon art for the younger crowd.
