About the Southern Sundown 4 Miler
The course runs through downtown Lenoir on roads, passing public murals, older residential streets, and factory buildings that date back generations. Several properties along the route carry historic designations, so there is genuine history underfoot. The terrain is road, and the variety of surroundings keeps you looking around.
The race starts and finishes at Liquid Roots Brewing Project, which also hosts the post-race party. Packet pickup runs the evening before at the brewery, with additional pickup on race day before the start. Live music plays after the race, and runners of legal drinking age get a pour from the brewery.

The Southern Sundown 4 Miler has been held every year since at least 2022. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
