About the SoCal's Pirate's 5k/10k Run/Walk
The course runs along a paved beach path at Bolsa Chica State Beach, flat and wide with the ocean beside you the whole way. There is a pirate theme woven through it, with costumes encouraged and a Jack Sparrow character running the pre-race warm-up on stage. Some runners dress up; others come to run fast. Both are fine here.
Packet pickup the day before is at a Road Runner Sports location in Newport Beach. Parking at the main lot is paid by QR code, but street parking in nearby Sunset Beach is an option if you want to walk in. The start area has live entertainment before the gun, and awards follow shortly after the last finishers come in.

The SoCal's Pirate's 5k/10k Run/Walk has been held every year since at least 2018. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 23, 2026.
