About the SoCal's Sunset Trick or Trot 5k/10K - Halloween Race
The course runs along the coast at Bolsa Chica State Beach, flat pavement with ocean views the whole way. It goes off in the evening, so you are actually running toward the setting sun rather than the usual morning start, which changes the feel of the whole thing. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome on the course.
Packet pickup opens in the afternoon on race day at the Trunk-or-Treat Expo in the beach parking lot, where decorated car trunks hand out candy before the start. Street tacos, aguas frescas, specialty coffee, and cookies are part of the post-race spread. There are costume contests alongside the standard age group awards.
