About the Shark Week Showdown 5K, 10K - Galveston, TX
The course runs along Stewart Beach, so you have the water on one side for most of the route. The terrain is flat beach pavement, and the ocean-themed setup means there is music at the start and finish. Several distance options are available, from a short kids dash up through a full 10K, all sharing the same beachfront stretch.
Packet pickup wraps up shortly before the race starts, so arriving early is worth it. The start area is right at the beach. Awards follow the finish, and the longer chip-timed distances include age-group recognition as well as overall prizes.
