About the 5th Annual Scranton 4 Ukraine 5K
The course runs along the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail, a paved path that follows the river through Scranton. It is a road race on flat trail surface, which makes the route itself straightforward. The race benefits Ukrainian refugees through a local nonprofit, and that purpose gives the morning a particular weight that a typical weekend run does not have.
Packet pickup and registration open early on race morning at the Olive Street trailhead, so you can arrive, sort yourself out, and still have time before the start. The trail setting means parking is worth thinking about ahead of time if you are unfamiliar with that stretch of the river.
