About the Running through the Decades Half Marathon

The race runs through Wheeler Park with a costume contest before the starting gun, so expect big hair and neon at the start line alongside people who are there to race. A live DJ spins throughout the morning, and the decade's theme carries across all the distances on offer, from the shortest kids' run to the half marathon.

Packet pickup closes a short window before the main start. After you finish, results and awards are posted at the registration tent right away, and the Rally Tent has snacks and refreshments waiting nearby.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Running through the Decades Half Marathon

Will I finish last at the Running through the Decades Half Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 37:55, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Running through the Decades Half Marathon a good first 3.11 Miles?

It is a small race (190 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Running through the Decades Half Marathon?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 18:03 while the median finisher took 37:55. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
