About the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston

The race runs through Brazos River Park with a retro costume theme woven into the whole morning. A DJ spins decade hits throughout, and a costume contest kicks things off before the starting gun. Several distance options share the same course and atmosphere, from a short kids run up to a half marathon, all chip-timed except the fun run.

Packet pickup runs the morning of the race at the Registration Tent, which also serves as the post-race hub for live results and awards. There are snacks and refreshments at the Rally Tent after you finish. The event crew photographs the course, so the costume is worth the effort.

Common Questions About the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston

Will I finish last at the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 39:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston a good first 3.11 Miles?

A field of 337 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 17:30 while the median finisher took 39:08. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Running through the Decades Half Marathon - Houston?
