About the "Running for the HEART 5K
The course runs along Bayou St. John, with water on one side and the park atmosphere of that stretch of New Orleans on the other. Runners, walkers, and cyclists all share the morning, and the route passes near a stadium most locals know well. The benefiting organization focuses on heart health education for young girls.
A morning stretch happens at the start area before the field goes out, and a celebration follows once people finish. On-site registration is available race morning for anyone who has not signed up ahead of time.
