About the Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest
The course runs through the grounds of a child advocacy campus in North Port. It is a costume race where plenty of people show up dressed, and the atmosphere skews toward families rather than competitive runners. The cause behind it, protecting and supporting children, is woven into the setting itself.
After the race, the campus opens up into a full festival. Food trucks, pumpkin painting, a bounce station, therapy dogs, lawn games, and trick-or-treating are all part of the morning. The festival is free and open to anyone, so families often come just for that side of things.
