About the 22nd Annual Run to Read Half Marathon
The course runs as a double out-and-back on a pair of rail trails. The first stretch is paved and passes through a historic restored tunnel. The second shifts to crushed limestone and opens up to views of the Monongahela River. The terrain is gentle throughout, the kind of surface that rewards a steady pace rather than punishing one.
Same-day registration and packet pickup open mid-morning on race day, well before the early afternoon start. The race is held at Pricketts Fort State Park, a short drive from the interstate on a quiet county road. Post-race food is plentiful, and awards go out as runners cross the line rather than in a single ceremony at the end.
