About the 3rd Annual Run for Hope, Walk for Change 5K

The course runs on paved roads inside Lake Louisa State Park, with gentle rolling hills throughout. There is no flat-and-done stretch here; the terrain moves, but nothing is steep enough to stop you. It is a fundraiser for mental health awareness, so the field tends to draw families and neighbors alongside runners.

Park admission is a separate fee per vehicle, paid at the gate, so budget for that on top of registration. Parking is on a grass area just inside the park, and packet pickup on race morning opens early near the start and finish line. Early pickup is also available at the Community Foundation of South Lake on Oakley Seaver Drive in Clermont.

Common Questions About the 3rd Annual Run for Hope, Walk for Change 5K

Will I finish last at the 3rd Annual Run for Hope, Walk for Change 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 40:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 3rd Annual Run for Hope, Walk for Change 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (94 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 3rd Annual Run for Hope, Walk for Change 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 24:42 while the median finisher took 40:58. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
